the Silver Coast, on of Europe’s most beautiful and unspoilt stretches of coastline, namely Pedra do Ouro a small beach resort, 120km north of Lisbon.
Why Pedra do Ouro?

It is a small relaxed beach resort with friendly and helpful locals. It has wide sandy beaches that go on for miles and breathtaking views along treks, on the beach or pedestrian walkways on the imposing cliffs. The village itself has tennis courts and hosts a local bar, a summer beach bar, a small hotel and a couple of traditional Portuguese restaurants. When not enjoying the immediate surroundings the region is steeped in history including the walled medieval town of Obidos, quaint fishing villages, great wine districts and excellent food still at affordable prices.

The beach in Pedra do Ouro is right in front of the house with fishermans trails running down to the sandy beach. The main route to the beach is approximately 400 meters, 7 minutes walk, or a minute car ride. There is a genuine family run bar and restaurant, serving light meals, on the beach as well as beach volley, changing and other facilities. There is a local pub and a couple of good restaurants just around the corner from the villa as well as a convenience store.
Pedra do Ouro is linked by cycling/roller-blading, by car or by walking along specially built pedestrain walkways with neighbouring Sao Pedro de Moel 4km north and Paredes 3km south. Alternatively, the wide sandy beach connects the villages and also makes a lovely walk! Here are a number of excellent seafood restaurants, bars, minimarkets, pharmacy ATM and very popular surf schools.
A lilltle further away you have, Nazare, Marinha Grande and Leiria the regions capital, with fresh food markets, large supermarkets, restaurants, bars and vast varied shopping on offer. The Silver Coast is rich in archaeology from pre-historic caves to Moorish castles and Roman villages, offering a spectacular choice of sight-seeing. Portugal has 13 locations classified by UNESCO as World Heritage sites, several in this area. Among others - Tomar, Convent of Christ founded in 1163, the Monastery of Alcobaca, the beautiful cathedral in Batalha and the walled medieval town of Obidos. Natur plays a big roll in this area, with its protected pine forrests, and of course it's spectacular wide sandy beaches that just go on for miles and miles.
